My Citizen Kofi

When I was invited to Citizen Kofi about a week ago, I couldn't wait to see the much talked about entertainment centre just off the Cantonments streets popularly known as the Osu Oxford street. As I hit the Dankwa circle, I simply could not take my eyes off the "happy coloured skyscraper"- What a lovely cosmopolitan scenery the magnificent entertainment Palace had brought to this sub of Accra!

I was so impressed with the neat compound, as I dropped off to the warm greeting breeze of the Citizen Kofi premises and with an additional princely welcome by the receptionist and door attendant.

While I sat in the comfort of an exceptional pure red sofa under a cool temperature to wait for Seth, the Marketing Manager; the receptionist offered to help, as my phone had fallen as a result of a desperate attempt to snap and replace my profile photo on Facebook. But just then Seth arrived and a memorable discovery was just about commencing!

Interestingly, my sight-seeing tour of Citizen Kofi began from the top. We took a lift and shortly we were at the Sky Bar - at the top most floor of the building. It was then that I got some meaning out of its name- Sky bar, and tell you what, it resonates perfectly! The scenery from that point of the C.K structure is that seen only by birds, and honestly at this height only eagles have a similar view.

As scared as I am of heights, I still felt the Sky bar was a place where I could sit, worry-free and take in some fresh air anytime, especially the next time I'm angry or may be heartbroken (as a person whose temper is instantly calmed by observing nature).

From here, I could view the long stretch of the Atlantic Ocean into a distance and then meeting with the natural ever changing patterns of the sky to form an awesome horizon. It is a wonderful place to observe the hectic winding down of the busy Osu Oxford Street during its rush hours. And of course I couldn’t resist the hot smell of food blowing this way and that way. Some margaritas next time won’t be bad at all.

After a brief chat with Seth, we moved to a lower floor to the home of a truly remarkable Restaurant- Restaurant Xango. The Aristocratic setting - of smooth white lace, full length window curtains, simple but posh black and white dinning furniture and a set of fine cutlery presumably Arthur Price with crystal clear wine glasses - was just admirable. It's a place Beyonce would have taken her girl out "if she were a Boy".... Just to IMPRESS!!! A place Richard Branson would love to feast on some Black Angus rib eye…Restaurant Xango had the feel of luxury either for corporate or individuals.

I have been blessed to visit the finest restaurants, Musso & Frank grill (Los Angeles), Hostaria Dell'orso (Rome, Italy), Renaissance Hotel (Paris, France) and Thirstle Marble Arch (London, UK) and I can, with all confidence, say that Citizen Kofi's Restaurant Xango (Accra, Ghana) is of world class standards. Seeing is believing- I need not go any further... catch the experience for yourself. Restaurant Xango is truly just a luxurious experience at a reasonable price I might add...

Using the neatly tiled staircase downstairs I caught sight of Club Citizen, truly one of the finest in Africa, If you have ever been to Movida in London, Club citizen offers a better ambience. And I am told its home to the stars…hence the tagline...’reach for the stars, right next to you’.

Soon we were back to the ground floor and to the room which turned out to be my favorite- The Accra Bar! Circled around the fine tiled, tornado shaped pillar whose colours resemble that of a marble designed planet Jupiter, is the bar counter dotted with small spots of white lights- so reflective of the galaxy. Add the dimmed lights and slow music, the ambience at the Accra Bar just seem to say - This is the place- RELAX! Share some quality time with your friends or better still make new ones-just forget your sorrows or yet still, it's quiet here in Space - discuss Business! The Accra Bar has what it takes, as in, the true value of a bar to our social lives...

On a whole the experience at Citizen Kofi was marvelous, just incredible! And I am honored that I was invited to discover such an extraordinary home of entertainment!!!
